Please read before filing a claim!

If you have a mechanical breakdown, simply bring your vehicle to your selling dealer’s service department or any licensed third party repair facility (or if not drivable, call our Roadside Assistance number to have your vehicle towed), and let them know that you have an HWG Vehicle Service Contract. Our trained professionals will handle the rest.

If a mechanical breakdown occurs while you are traveling, you can have your vehicle repaired at any RepairPal facility (https://repairpal.com/headstart) or any licensed repair facility. Be sure to have them call the claims number (1-888-964-1899) prior to performing any repairs and have your Service Contract number available when calling. Adjusters are on duty weekdays from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm EST.

You will only need to pay for your deductible (where applicable) and for any non-covered parts/repairs.
We may request copies of your service records and/or an independent inspection before authorizing repairs.

Once your vehicle is at the repair facility, the facility must contact HWG with an estimate PRIOR to any work beginning on the vehicle. The repair facility may call 888-964-1899 or file a claim through the form below.

Don’t forget to maintain your vehicle per the recommended maintenance schedule of the manufacturer of your vehicle and keep verifiable receipts for that maintenance per the terms and conditions of your Service Contract as noted in the section titled: “YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES”. Hand written receipts will not be accepted.

Auto Service Agreement Claims

If you are experiencing a mechanical breakdown please have the repair facility file a claim by filling out the form below. Your request will be handled promptly. If we need any additional information we will reach out to you. 

If you are a policy holder with questions on how to file a claim please give us a call at 888-964-1899 option 2.

If you are a repair facility with questions concerns or checking status please call 888-964-1899 option 3.

Repairs performed on an emergency basis must be reported the next business day for consideration, otherwise the claim will be denied for no prior authorization.


Property Damage Claims

If you or your customer has property damage and need to file a claim, fill out the following form as completely as possible. Once you have completed the form, click the Submit button to send your information to the claims department. Your request will be handled promptly. If we need any additional information we will reach out to you.

GAP Claims

If you or your customer has a mechanical breakdown and need to file a claim fill out the following form as completely as possible. Once you have completed the form, click the Submit button to send your information to the claims department. Your request will be handled promptly. If we need any additional information we will reach out to you.

Our Coverage will pay the difference between the loan payoff amount (up to 150% MSRP) as of the Date of Loss minus the insurance settlement amount; less any exclusions mentioned in your GAP Addendum. We are not responsible for any late payments; deferments, or additional charges, no matter when they occurred during the loan. We are not responsible for payments due after the Date of Loss or interest accrued thereafter.
